The Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s first 2009-2010 appearance in Greenville brings music from two iconic ballets: Copland’s Saturday Night Waltz and Hoedown from his much-loved Rodeo and the supremely beautiful music from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. The concert concludes with Dvorak’s Cello Concerto No. 1, performed by the acclaimed cellist, Jolyon Pegis.
Jolyon Pegis joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 2000, coming from the San Antonio Symphony. Prior to that, he worked for the Chautauqua Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Arcadia Trio, Fairfield Chamber Orchestra, Norwalk Symphony and Yellow Barn Music Festival. He was also on the faculty at Mercyhurst College. He holds degrees from Indiana University and Hartt School at the University of Hartford. His teachers include Alan Harris, Fritz Magg, Gary Hoffman and David Wells.
