Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 676
Our 34th Season debuts with Maestra Rei Hotoda, assistant conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Hotoda leads a concert of masterpieces that run the gamut of human emotion. Stravinsky’s Russian folk music ballet, Petrushka, overflows with the colors of a Russian fair and a pathetic, lovelorn puppet that comes to life. Fauré’s Penelope Prelude depicts the dramatic reunion of lovers Ulysses and Penelope from Homer’s Odyssey. Beethoven’s triumphal Symphony No. 5 follows with its rhythmic punch and one of the most popular opening themes of all time. Don’t miss an explosive start to the IPO’s exciting season!
