In the search for a new Music Director, the Macon Symphony Orchestra listed three roles the successful candidate should play – that of principal conductor, artistic director, and community arts leader. Over 100 applications were received, all of which were reviewed by each of the seven members of the Search Committee, two of whom are members of the Orchestra. Seventeen were selected to submit further information including references and DVDs of rehearsals as well as performances. The Committee then met to review these for the purpose of developing a short list for telephone interviews. Three candidates have been invited to conduct the Macon Symphony during the 2010-2011 Season. These are Lawrence Golan, Rei Hotoda, and John McLaughlin Williams. They will be introduced to the community during the week in which they are conducting the Orchestra in the 2010-11 Concert Season.
Rei Hotoda will conduct the MCO on Saturday November 13, 2010
